Austin Fashion Week was so exciting and inspiring. From the local talent incorporating the textures and designs it felt NEW. In my opinion the fashion industry has been dull, bland, and uninspiring and THIS felt like a breath of fresh air that the industry has been needing and it didn't happen in New York or Paris, it happened in Austin, Texas. We had looks from Belmuse, Mutayo Ekiye, Recychlo, and more.
Next was probably the cleanest cut, not super innovative but classic in every since of the word. My favorite Mutayo Ekiye and the structure of the bags were amazing, clean lines, symmetrical, and the most ready to wear couture, off the runway. They are mostly a luxury handbag designer but they styled so well with the suits. In my opinion I was super impressed and inspired by all of these designers. My main critique is toward the event program itself, for people who did buy tickets, it did not feel as exclusive or that they weren't a priority; when people paid for seats but, then just random people could come into the front row beside them for free. As a person who has thrown together events and been a coordinator it did not feel exclusive enough. The overall experience was a very fun vibe but did not feel cohesive with the message of Fashion by Events.

Moving to Austin has been kinda crazy! For the longest time I have felt like I've just been visiting for the weekend and not living. As my mentality has switched that I don't have to see everything immediately and that I'll have time to see the sights and post about them that I have grown more comfortable with telling Young Octavia what's up.
So I moved at the end of May to a lovely townhome in South Austin and have been honestly still decorating two months later but we'll get there. As for places seen and been so far it has mostly been food and a tad bit of shopping. South Congress honestly is the energy I thrive off of (even though parking sucks) I absolutely love going and shopping but also people watching. It's my absolute favorite. For restaurants my boyfriend and I have been to Aba, Three Forks, Umi's, and Gabriella's. All delicious and spectacular places. I'm ready to explore more and I will now be posting on individual places and photographing. Just had to get settled first. Thank y'all for the patience. XOXO, Young Octavia |
